Portfolio Trading Plans
A successful trader does not guess; they execute a predefined strategy. The Trading Plans tab is where you digitize your playbooks.
When you log a trade in the Trade Journal, you will assign it to one of these plans. The system will then grade your execution against the exact rules, risk limits, and checklists you define here, generating your overall Compliance Rate.
Your Compliance Rate is strict and all-or-nothing per trade: a closed trade counts as compliant only if every check you marked as Important on the assigned plan was ticked. Partial credit is not given.
Compliance Rate = closed trades where all Important checks were ticked ÷ total closed trades on that plan × 100
It always falls between 0% and 100%. Where a figure is shown for a whole member rather than a single plan, it is the unweighted average of that member’s per-plan rates.
Compliance is not the same as Plan Execution. Compliance asks whether you followed your checklist; Plan Execution asks how much of your planned reward you actually captured. A trade can be fully compliant and still miss its target — and a high compliance rate does not by itself guarantee profit.

The Trading Plans Table
The main dashboard gives you a clean overview of all your active strategies. Below is the functional breakdown of each parameter tracked in your strategy index, matching the requirements of your compliance engine:
| Column | Functional Breakdown |
|---|---|
Name | The unique identifier for the trading plan. Used to track performance across your portfolio and assign trades in the journal. Tip: Use names like 'Swing Breakout' or 'Scalp Mean-Reversion' for instant recognition. |
Description | A brief summary of the plan's underlying strategy. It outlines your core approach (trend, reversal, breakout) and any special market context. Highly detailed rules should be kept within the checklist instead. |
Max risk % | The maximum percentage of total portfolio capital you are allowed to risk on a single trade setup. This automatically caps position sizing relative to your stop-loss distance. Standard benchmarks: Conservative (1-2%), Moderate (2-3%), Aggressive (3-5%). |
Min Patterns | The minimum number of confirmed technical patterns or indicator confluences required before an entry is valid. This enforces confluence-based entries and reduces impulsive trading (e.g., Support Zone + RSI Divergence = 2 patterns). |
Min R-Multiple | The lowest acceptable risk-to-reward ratio before taking a setup. Calculated as: (Target - Entry) / (Entry - Stop). Setting this to 2.0 means you only need a 33% win rate to break even over time. |
Last modified at | The timestamp tracking the most recent update to this specific plan. This updates automatically whenever you change risk variables, edit the strategy name, or adjust items inside your checklist. |

Creating a New Trading Plan
To digitize a new strategy, click the blue + New trading plan button in the top right corner.
Follow these steps within the configuration modal to build out your custom plan rules:
Define the Core Rules
Start by naming your plan and writing a brief description. Then, set your strict mathematical boundaries:
- Max risk %: If you set this to 2%, and you later log a trade risking 3%, the app will raise a risk warning on the trade and mark the plan Max risk % check as not met!
- Min Patterns: If you require at least 2 patterns (e.g., a Bull Flag and a Support Bounce) to enter, set this to
2. - Min R-Multiple: If you refuse to take trades with worse than a 1:2 risk-to-reward ratio, enter
2.0here.
Build the Entry & Exit Checklists
This is the most powerful part of the Trading Plan. Instead of just “winging it,” you can create specific, actionable steps that must be met before entering or exiting a trade.
- Click Add entry check… or Add exit check… to type out a specific rule (e.g., “Wait for 15m candle close” or “Sweep of Asian High”).
Star “Important” Rules
Not all rules carry the same weight. Some are guidelines, while others are absolute dealbreakers. When typing a checklist item, you will see a star icon toggle:
- Click it to mark the rule as Important (star filled).
- Leave it as Not important if it’s just a general preference.
- Click Save to lock the item into your list.

The Compliance Loop: When you use this plan in the Trade Journal, these checklist items will appear as active, interactive checkboxes. Checking them off ensures you are trading with complete discipline, while the Analytics engine tracks exactly which behavioral rules you tend to skip over time!

Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers based on this page's topic.
When you link a trade to a Trading Plan in the Trade Journal, the compliance engine automatically evaluates your execution against your predefined risk limits, minimum pattern requirements, and interactive entry/exit checklists.
If a logged position risks a higher percentage of total portfolio capital than your specified Max Risk % limit, the analytics engine automatically flags the execution as a failed Max risk % plan check.
Enforcing a Minimum R-Multiple ensures setups meet a baseline risk-to-reward ratio prior to entry; for example, maintaining a minimum R-Multiple of 2.0 mathematically allows a strategy to break even with a win rate as low as 33%.
