Portfolio Management
In Trading Metrics, a Portfolio is the master container for your trading activity. You can think of it as a specific brokerage account, a prop firm challenge, or a unique trading strategy (e.g., “Main Swing Account” vs. “Crypto Scalping”).
You can create as many portfolios as you need depending on the plan you have to keep your data perfectly segmented and organized.
The Portfolio Overview
When you navigate to the Portfolio section, you are greeted with the Overview dashboard. This displays a grid of cards representing every portfolio you own or are a member of.
Each card provides a high-level snapshot of that account’s health without needing to dig into the deep analytics:
| Metric | Description |
|---|---|
Status Counts | Quickly see the number of Open trades, Wins (W), and Losses (L). |
Core Metrics | Tracks your Realized Net, Profit Factor, Potential Profits, and Potential Losses. |
Risk & Efficiency | Displays the Avg R-Multiple and the Plan Execution percentage. |
Currency | The base fiat or crypto asset the portfolio is measured in. |

The Default Portfolio: You will notice one of your portfolios has a yellow star next to its name, with the tooltip Default Portfolio. When you create a portfolio for the first time, the app will automatically default to this workspace. You can change your default portfolio at any time in your Account Settings.
Creating a New Portfolio
To spin up a new workspace, click the blue + New Portfolio button in the top right corner. You will need to fill out the following structural details:
| Configuration | Description |
|---|---|
Name & Description | Give your portfolio a recognizable title (e.g., "100k Funded Challenge"). |
Trading Patterns | Decide if you want to preload the app's built-in System Patterns to help you tag trades faster, or start with a blank slate to only use your own Custom Patterns. |
Initial Trading Plans | Choose to start With Example Plans to see how they work, or start clean. |
Base Currency & Deposit | Set your Default asset (e.g., USD or USDT), the Initial deposit asset, the amount you are starting with, and the exact date/time the deposit was executed. (This ensures your equity curve starts tracking accurately!) |

Joining an Existing Portfolio
If you are trading with a team, a mentor, or a prop firm, you don’t always need to create your own portfolio.
Click the Join with code button at the top right of the Overview screen. Simply paste the unique invite code provided by the portfolio owner, and their workspace will instantly appear in your overview grid!

Inside the Portfolio (Details View)
Once your portfolio is created, click the Open button on its card. This takes you into the dedicated management hub for that specific account.
At the top of the screen, you will see a navigation bar with several tabs representing a crucial part of your trading business:
| Management Tab | Description |
|---|---|
Details | Edit the portfolio name, description, and base currency, or record reference limits like Max Open Trades and Daily Max Loss %. |
Trading Patterns | Manage the specific technical setups tracked in this account. |
Trading Plans | Build the rule-based playbooks for your strategies. |
Transactions | View a ledger of your deposits, withdrawals, and conversions. |
Assets | Track the real-time balances of the capital inside the portfolio. |
Members | Review each member role and individual performance, change roles, transfer ownership, or remove members. |
Invites | View and copy the invite codes minted from your unfilled seats. Read-only, and visible to Owners and Managers. |

We will break down each of these tabs in detail in the following guides.
